Zaira had always been interested in documenting events and moments of life, but she formally went into modern scrapbooking in 2000, while trying to finish her degree in visual communication (she actually did). She taught scrapbooking classes for seven years back in her native Puerto Rico (when the concept of sketches had not shown into the market yet), and wrote her first scrapbooking article in 2002. In 2006, Zaira started her first scrapbooking blog, Scrapbook Latino, that evolved to become the current Hacer Scrapbooks. ("Hacer" is Spanish for "to make".) In 2010, she wrote her very first scrapbooking e-booklet for the Spanish speaking market. Zaira now lives in Florida, USA.

Zaira has been following 4x6 Photo Sketch since early 2009, when she read about it on a now-closed YahooGroup.

for not posting anything for awhile. We've been in school for four weeks now (I was getting the room ready a week and a half before that) and it's not slowing down. This year I've got a split class of 31 - 5th and 6th graders. I've been getting up at 4:30 to get into work at 6:00 and not leaving until 6:00 or later at night. My weekends are full of more school work.

I don't know when I will be posting a sketch again, but know that it will happen!!! If nothing else, I've got to have knee surgery soon and I won't have much to do but sit around the house. Plenty of time to sketch and post then (3-6 weeks of recovery depending on who you listen to).

Hopefully when I do come back, I'll still have some followers :)

I apologize for the time between posts. With preparing my students for state testing, wrapping up the school year and training for a 1/2 marathon I've not had much free time. School ends in two weeks so I hope to have more time to scrapbook. I do have some sketches already drawn in my book, but haven't had the time to create them in PSE....hopefully soon.

but I wanted to put this out there. I am a 5/6 grade teacher in the largest school district in Indiana. With all the budget cuts going on, the district makes cuts where it can. One of those places is technology, the district does not provide us with technology for the kids. Question for all you out there.....

I was reading a post at 2Peas about being able to search for photo orientation on sketch blogs.

I tried putting a search feature in, but a bunch of other stuff came up when looking for a certain number of photos. I then started putting labels in about the photo orientation. Only problem with that is there are now a large number of labels in the list. I could now take out the number of photos labels as the other covers it also.

Any thoughts on this from my blog readers??

Thanks!! I just want to make this blog as easy to navigate as possible.

School will be wrapping up for the year soon, so I will have more time to focus on scrappin'. YEAH!!!

I wanted to know if there were any sketches that you might be looking for. Just add a comment with the size of the layout: 12 X 12, 8.5 X 11 (vertical and horizontal), or 8 X 8; the number of pics and their orientations (vertical or horizontal); and whether it is a 1 page or 2 pager.

I generally make the sketches to fit my needs of the layout I'm currently working on. When I am just sketching without a project in mind I sometimes struggle with the number and orientation of the photos. I thought that it might make it easier if I worked from a list of needed sketches from fellow scrapbookers. Thanks!

Hey all you 4X6 photo fans! Have you seen CK's new special issue titled, Super-Fast Pages with 4X6 Photos? If you are a fan of this blog, this mag should be right up your alley. Unlike the first edition (which included layouts with pics 4 X 6 and smaller) this one is probably 95% 4X6 photos only (there are a few that are questionable)! You can even see one of my layouts on pgs. 84-85.

I made this sketch several months ago, but had not done a layout for it until this week. How do you guys feel about sketches without layouts? I've got sketches that I have not used yet for layouts. What are your preferences? Sketches with layouts, or are just sketches OK?

BTW, it is Spring Break week and I had planned on getting a lot of scrapping done. Unfortunately, I got sick and have not been able to do as much scrapping as I had planned. Good news is that I have gotten several pages completed and several more sketches drawn so you will get more sketches over the coming weeks.
